Quality CIGNA health insurance At Affordable Prices

CIGNA offers Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans. These provide quality CIGNA health insurance at affordable prices.

HMO plans offers access to health care from a network of participating providers. This includes hospitals, physicians, specialist and clinics. When members of HMO plans use the in-network providers, they will benefit from a range of discounts. These make health care insurance much more affordable.

If members go outside of the network for non-emergency care then they may have to pay for this treatment themselves.

Using HMO Plans

When you enroll on a CIGNA HMO plan, you will need to choose a Primary Care Physician. They will be responsible for coordinating all your health care needs. This includes routine diagnosis and treatment and also referrals to in-network hospitals and specialists.

Most PCPs are general physicians who are trained to provide health care for all the family. In some cases you can also choose specialists PCPs. This would apply if you have a specific condition that requires ongoing monitoring. For example, some PCPs will specialize in certain areas such as obstetrics, gynecology or pediatrics.

What benefits are offered by CIGNA HMO plans?

CIGNA HMO plans can provide comprehensive health care benefits. These can include:

  • Basic Medical Care - This includes physical examinations, treatments for minor ailments and injuries. All you need to do to access basic medical care is contact your PCP's office and make an appointment.
  • Specialty Care - your PCP can refer you to a specialist for further diagnosis and treatment. You may require specialty care if you are suffering from more complex conditions such as heart disease, hereditary disorders or complications with pregnancy.
  • Hospital Care - this can include in-patient and out-patient care. Your PCP will refer you to an appropriate in-network provider for non-emergency treatment. Hospital care can be very costly so this is an important element to your health plan.
  • Emergency Care - under HMO plans you can go to the nearest emergency facility or call 911 if you need to. In most cases your plan will cover you for emergency care no matter which hospital you use. If you go to an out of network provider though you will need to contact your PCP as soon as possible to arrange appropriate follow up care.
