A New Health Hope for Inflammatory Pain Is the Curry Spice

According to the researchers of the University of Nottingham in the U.K. and Ludwig-Maxmillians University in Munich, Germany, the substance that gives curry spice turmeric which is known as curcumin can help in the treatment of inflammatory conditions which includes arthritis and tendinitis. Based on their study curcumin can restrain inflammation which are caused by tendon diseases.

However, the research does not suggest that curcumin, turmeric and curry can treat inflammatory pain from arthritis and tendinitis, according to Ali Mobasheri, DPhil, of the University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary Medicine and Science who co-led the research. Ali further suggests that this is a great breakthrough since in offers important information to scientists in enhancing their research about curing inflammatory conditions through nutrition.

Indian people have already used turmeric as a remedy for treating irritable bowel syndrome and other kinds of disorders. Due to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin, more and more researchers from different countries are now examining its use in several diseases including cirrhosis of the liver and some forms of cancer. Based on the study by Nottingham-Munich, curcumin can prevent interleukins from providing inflammation.

Tendons are the fibrous tissues that connect the muscles to the bones. Tendons are very important in the movement of the muscles. But they can be easily injured especially if you are an athlete. Athletes usually overstretched their bodies causing the overuse of joints. When tendons are inflamed, it can produce pain and tenderness along the joints specifically in the shoulders, heels, hips, elbows. This condition is referred as tendinitis. Curcumin is not only a good ingredient of food but also a new way of suppressing your inflammatory pain. This news source of this article is WebMD and the study is conducted by Ali Mobasheri, DPhil, of the University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.
