Exercise and Other Physical Activities Are the Best Health Drug for Cancer Survival

Cancer patients can survive if they exercise regularly or do other physical activities because this can lessen the risks of side effects and prevent from further recurrence. According to the report from Macmillan Cancer Support in the U.K, which is entitled "Move More: Physical activity the underrated 'wonder drug'", cancer patients need at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week in order to gain the benefits. This is the recommendation from the four chief medical officers of Macmillan Cancer Support in the U.K. However, these physical activities should only be moderate which can include cycling and brisk walking. Household chores can also be included, for instance mowing the lawn or performing a heavy cleaning.

Base on this report, there is a reduction of up to 40% of recurrence as well as dying to breast cancer patients who are doing the minimum of 150 minutes of moderate exercise every week. There is also a reduction of up to 50% of recurrence and dying if bowel cancer patients will do moderate physical activities of 150 minutes each week which is about six hours. Prostate cancer patients can reduced the risk of dying and recurrence if they obliged to the recommended 150 minutes of moderate physical exercise. Cancer patients can also benefit the reduction of risk from the side effects after receiving treatments. Some of these side effects which can be avoided include osteoporosis, fatigue, heart disease and depression.

Doing regular exercise can bring great benefits not only to healthy people but also to those unhealthy ones especially those who are suffering from cancer. Doing moderate exercise is not so hard to do, all you need is to put some time into it. This does not only prolong your life but it can also prevent you from having serious diseases.
