Health Tip to Make Students More Alert at School
According to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, parents should remember that nutrition plays an important role in the academic performance of their children. Studies from experts suggest that those children who are eating healthy and balanced diet are more alert in school. These children also receive higher marks compared to those children who are eating unhealthy foods, according to Mary Pat Alfaro, clinical manager of the division of nutrition therapy at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Children must eat healthy breakfast and lunch. A healthy breakfast can be composed of whole grain cereals together with low fat milk, toast and eggs combined with 100% fruit juice and other foods which are rich in fiber. When preparing lunch be sure to use the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Guide Pyramid. Alfaro suggests that you must include at least two servings of foods that belong to the bread group and include one serving of food from each of the other food categories.
Sometimes there are some children who easily get bored with their lunches, in order to prevent this you can substitute breads with sandwiches or you can use tortillas or muffins instead. According to Alfaro, you might also try packing some fruits for them, for instance strawberries, melon chunks or grapes. You can also include a dipping sauce which is composed of yogurt. Fruit lovers would surely love it. Parents should also encourage their children to drink low fat milk or plain water. Children should avoid drinking beverages with caffeine and herbs ingredients.
The nutrition of children is very significant. Eating the right kinds of foods can make your children alert in school aside from keeping them healthy all the time. By being conscious about the nutrition of your children, you can save money because they will not get sick too easily
