Learn More About Medicare Advantage Plans Indiana

Medicare advantage plans Indiana are approved by Medicare. They offer patients a chance to customize their health care cover to suit their individual needs.

Medicare advantage Indiana will provide all of your Part A (hospital cover) and Part B (medical insurance). This means that you will get all of your normal medical cover as usual including emergency care. You will also be offered a choice of additional benefits. These can include:

  • Annual Wellness check ups
  • Routine check ups
  • Dental care
  • Vision cover
  • Hearing exams
  • Hospice care
  • Home nursing

Medicare Advantage plans will also include Medicare prescription drug coverage in most cases. This is a very effective way for you to build up a plan tailored to your health needs.

Managed Care Plans

The majority of Medicare Advantage Plans are managed care plans. This means that they utilize a network of medical services in order to provide a more cost effective form of cover. Many advantage plans are Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) or Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO).

You may be required to choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP). They will coordinate your health care and become your first point of contact for your advantage plan treatment. With managed plans you may only be able to see in-network providers. If you go out the network for physician, specialist or hospital care then you may have to pay a lot more towards the costs.

Private Fee For Service plans (PFFS)

Some Medicare Advantage Plans may also offer the option for PFFS. These are more expensive in most cases but do provide more freedom of choice than managed care plans. With PFFS you will be able to use any health provider you want to as long as they are Medicare-approved. In most cases you would have to cover a co-payment for services like doctors office visits.

How much does a Medicare Advantage Plan cost?

The costs of Medicare Advantage Plans will vary depending on the provider. If you are choosing additional services outside of your regular Medicare cover then you will need to pay certain expenses such as premiums, co-payments and coinsurance. Although these costs can be lower than with an individual health plan you do need to count them carefully. Make sure they are affordable for your budget before you enroll.
