What Can You Expect From Business Health Insurance Ohio?

Business health insurance Ohio is an affordable way to make sure employees are covered against ill health.

Even if you are a small business, health insurance is important. This provides an effective way to help keep your workforce fit and healthy. Health insurance enables you to get fast access to the diagnostic and treatment services you need. This helps reduce the amount of time employees are off sick and make sure everyone stays fit and healthy.

Business Health Insurance

Each business group health plan will have its own set of features and benefits; however, most plans offer a core list of essential services. These provide basic coverage for all employees including:

  • Specialist fees - these may be subject to certain guidelines. In some cases only in-network providers will be paid for under the policy. If you want to see a specialist out of the network then you will have to pay for this yourself.
  • Hospital charges - these can be very expensive so this is an important form of coverage to have. Make sure all the charges are covered including nursing, medication, dressings (and other basic medical supplies), accommodation and also meals.
  • Diagnostic tests - these can range from simple bloods tests through to x-rays, MRI scans and CT scans.

Your plan may also offer a number of additional coverage options. These can affect the premiums so it is important to make sure you are not paying for any forms of coverage you do not need.

For example you may be offered maternity coverage under your health plan. This would only be appropriate for those people considering starting a family. Dental plans can also be offered but you may find when you compare costs that it is actually more affordable to set up your own individual dental cover.

What is not covered by business health insurance?

There are many common features and benefits that are not covered by standard business health insurance plans. These include:

  • Pre-existing illness (although the rules regarding this are changing from 2014 onwards when pre-existing condition exclusions will be no longer be allowed).
  • Chronic conditions - some policies will not cover chronic conditions such as allergies or migraines.
  • Conditions related to alcohol or drug abuse
  • Cosmetic treatment - the majority of health plans will not cover any treatments deemed as "unnecessary" such as liposuction or nose jobs. However if you need cosmetic surgery following illness or injury such as facial reconstruction or burns treatment then this may be covered.
